Why is Vinted quietly winning the resale war?
A tracker read 14.7 million Vinted listings in five European countries in September 2026. Three streetwear brands drove 41% of what left the shelf, hoodies were the top category, and US sellers pay 0% in fees.
Where the numbers come from
Resale IQ runs a crawler that re-reads public Vinted shelves in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal about every 30 minutes and records which listings disappear. On October 5, 2026 its database held 14,676,854 listings. September 2026 was its first full month, published as the Vinted Demand Index, October 2026.
One caveat before any number: these are observed departures, not sales. A listing can leave the shelf because someone bought it, or because it was deleted, sold elsewhere or relisted. Prices are the last asking price in euros, not what a buyer paid.
Three brands own the shelf
Out of 16,821 unique listings that left the shelf across the five countries in September:
- Fred Perry: 2,393
- Stone Island: 2,387
- Patagonia: 2,173
That's 41.3% of all observed departures in three names. The top 10 brands made up 70%.
The leader changes by country
- France: Stone Island, 926 departures (14.2%)
- Germany: Patagonia, 1,045 (17.6%)
- Spain: Fred Perry, 1,199 (15.2%)
- Italy: Fred Perry, 718 (15.4%)
- Portugal: a tie, Fred Perry and Stone Island at 857 each
The same brand is also asked at different prices by country. The median Gucci departure was asked at €125 in Italy vs €80 in Portugal; Nike at €50 vs €35. Europe is five resale markets, not one.
Cheap is the core
33.6% of departures were asked under €20, and 12.8% under €10. Only 14.2% were asked at €100 or more. Portugal had the most under €20 (36.1%); France had the most at €100-plus (16.6%).
Hoodies are the uniform
3,749 hoodie departures, 22.3% of the total, at a median asking price of €35. Jackets (17.6%) and sneakers (15%) came next, both at a €49 median. In the US, the same pattern shows on our own board: these are the hoodies, jackets and sneakers with dated proof on this site.

The US angle: sellers keep 100%
Vinted, founded in Lithuania in 2008, launched in the US in January 2026 and was valued at €8 billion in an April 2026 share sale. Its US model is built differently: sellers pay 0% (no commission, no listing fee), and buyers pay 5% + $0.70 per order, renamed the "Vinted fee" on October 8, 2026.
On a $50 sale, the seller keeps:
- Vinted: $50.00
- Depop: $47.90 (no selling fee in the US since 2024; 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing)
- Poshmark: $40.00 (20% commission)
Buyer fees pay for the growth, so sellers keep listing. That's the pull.
Before you quote it
- Observed departures are not confirmed sales (deletions, relists and off-platform sales are included)
- Prices are last asking prices, not sold prices
- 58 tracked brands: a sample, not all of Vinted
- The crawler reads the top of each shelf, so slow sellers are under-counted (97.2% of departures fell inside 24 hours)
- September is the baseline: no month-on-month trend yet, and 80.2% of the month's departures were recorded on September 1–15
Cheap, concentrated, priced by country, led by hoodies, with zero seller fees pulling supply in. That's how Vinted wins quietly.
