The Switch 2's second holiday, Pokémon's 30th year, and a stack of discounted game cards at Costco. What's there and what it actually saves.

Why gamers are this year's easy gift

Switch 2's second holiday: 23.68 million sold in its first 13 months (Nintendo Wire, Aug 6, 2026)
Pokémon's 30th anniversary year: Pokopia came out on Switch 2 in March; the next main game, Winds and Waves, is set for 2027
A digital card lets them pick their own games

What Costco has (checked Oct 14)

Nintendo eShop: four $25 cards for $89.99, or four $50 cards for $179.99 (10% off)
Meta Quest: four $25 cards for $89.99 (10% off)
PlayStation, Roblox, Fortnite: "Members Only", so the price only shows after you sign in and we can't quote it

Is 10% worth it?

Game cards rarely sell below face value, so 10% is real money: $20 back on $200 of eShop credit. Smaller than the 20–25% on Costco's restaurant cards, but it's money you'd spend on games anyway.
